By using the site you accept the rules below. They are short and hold no surprises, and all of them follow from one fact: this is a technical handbook, not normative documentation.
Using the material
- Read it, print it and use it in your work — freely, including paid work.
- Quote passages and tables — with a link back to the source page.
- The calculators may be used in day-to-day work without restriction.
- Copying whole articles and tables to other sites without naming the source and giving a working link is not allowed.
- Bulk automated harvesting of the content to build derivative sites is not allowed.
- Calculator results may not be presented as normative values.
The calculators
The calculators are provided as they are. They compute from openly described formulae, and every page names the source of the formula and the assumptions taken. The result is a starting point for planning, not an acceptance document. Responsibility for applying a calculation to a particular structure rests with whoever makes the engineering decision.
Limitation of liability
The material is informational. The authors are not liable for the consequences of using it in production: welding parameters are set by the procedure specification, and the right to make a weld comes from a qualification.
Accuracy and updates
Figures are checked when published and corrected when someone reports a problem, but we do not guarantee that every number matches the latest edition of a standard at every moment. Standards change; where the site and the standard in force disagree, the standard always wins.

Links to outside resources are given for convenience. We do not control what is on them and are not answerable for it. The same goes for the ads: the ad network picks them, not the author, and something appearing in an ad is not a recommendation by this site.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. The date of the last update is at the bottom of this page. Material changes do not act retroactively on messages already sent through the form.
